Through perseverance, he was fortunate to be selected as a finalist in the Contemporary Hong Kong Art Biennial Exhibition, Western medium section, in 1979, and subsequently the Young Art in Asia Now Competition held in the Hong Kong Arts Center in 1980.

With a career as a photojournalist spanning 18 years, Leung Yun Charm resumed painting after his early retirement in 2007. He received the People's Choice Award as well as a Merchandise Award granted by M. Graham & Co. in the 33rd Juried Exhibition organized by the Pennsylvania Watercolor Society in 2012. He always loves to paint things that surround him, about the everyday lives of common people. To date his works have been exhibited in the US, Canada, Beijing, Germany, Spain, Taiwan and Hong Kong.
